the basics
The Basic
2 oz Vic Gin
a dash of Twisted & Bitter, orange bitters (optional)
Put in glass. Add ice (optional). Garnish with a lemon twist (optional). Enjoy.
The G&T
Pour 2 oz Vic Gin on ice. Top with tonic.
We strongly recommend the good stuff: Fentiman’s, Fever-Tree, Bolan’s, Q-tonic… You can get these tonics at specialty food stores. Canada Dry will never taste the same again.
Garnish with a wedge of lime.
(Loose) Rules to Drink by
Like relationships, and the fine sport of cheese rolling, good cocktails are all about balance. Along with your spirit, this will include ingredients that are sweet and sour. There are some fabulous cocktails on our site with great proportions to work with. Try a few and then play. Above all, “keep it real”… work with real, fresh ingredients and have some fun.
Here are a few ingredients we like with Vic Gin:
Sweet:
Simple syrup (on the stove, dissolve sugar in an equal part water, then cool)
Cordials (Bottlegreen makes great ones… we love elderflower)
Maple syrup
Jams
Honey
Orange blossom or rose water
Sour:
Lemons
Limes
Bitters (essential)
Fresh ginger juice
Mixers:
Tonic water (Fentiman’s, Fever-Tree, Bolan’s, Q-tonic…)
Soda water
Fresh exotic fruit juices – we love pear and pomegranate
Teas – herbal, green, and black (a spiced chai is amazing)
Floral, lemon, and orange sodas
Spirits we love with Vic Gin:
Crème de violette
Pear, lemon, and orange liqueurs
Vermouths – sweet and dry
Bubbly!: Cava, Prosecco, Veuve Clicquot (when you have your technique down)
Marachino liqueur (this is not the cherries!… If it lasts longer than you do, you don’t want it in your drink.)
In the fridge:
Herbs: rosemary, coriander, lavender…
Cucumbers
Eggs (use the whites for fizzes)
